SAMA Governor Heads Saudi Delegation to Joint Annual Meetings of Arab Financial Institutions

The Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), Ayman Al-Sayari, heads the Saudi delegation to the Joint Annual Meetings of Arab Financial Institutions to be hosted by the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The meetings will be attended by Arab ministers of finance and economy, governors of Arab central banks, and the heads and officials of Arab financial institutions.

The delegation includes the CEO of Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Sultan A. Al-Marshad, the Deputy Governor of SAMA for Economic Research and Statistics, Dr. Fahad I. Alshathri, the Deputy Minister of Finance for International Affairs, Mr. Khalid A. Bawazier, in addition to a number of experts from SAMA, the Ministry of Finance, and the Saudi Fund for Development.

These meetings serve as a unified platform for Arab financial institutions to discuss the most prominent financial, economic and development topics and issues. Participants will evaluate achievements and review plans in light of the joint efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, overcome development challenges, and enhance regional partnerships among Arab economies.

These meetings are also an essential channel for conducting bilateral and multilateral discussions among Arab ministers of finance and economy, the heads of the boards of directors of Arab financial institutions, and the governors of Arab central banks. These discussions aim at enhancing the efforts made by Arab financial institutions and coordinating visions to support the efforts of Arab countries in achieving sustainable development goals.

The Joint Annual Meetings of the Arab Financial Institutions include the meetings of the Board of Governors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Board of Shareholders of the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation, the Board of Governors of the Arab Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, the Board of Governors of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, and the Supervisory Board of the Special Account for Financing Small and Medium Private Sector Projects in Arab Countries.
